I didn't used to care for Kirsten's Midsummer outfit, but after another board member pointed out that most of Kirsten's dresses were fairly plain, it started to grow on me a bit.

I went back and forth on the dress when I was in the process of getting it and even for the first hour or so of having it. I was initally hooked by the comparitive uniqueness of it compared to the rest of her collection, and even period. I have about 3 off brand dresses that are similar it cut and style to her meet and school dresses (which are similar in themselves, not to mention the birthday dress which is also, but with shorter sleeves.) The frills and the color really seperate it. However, I'm not really a frills or polka-dot girl, so once I was sure my mom was buying it for me out of the list I gave her, I freaked a little bit, wishing I emphasized, say Lissie's summer dress more. Even once I got it, I was kinda like, "...purple polka-dots...." but as soon as I got it on Kirsten and saw the "change," it was amazing and is now one of my favorite dresses. I also really like the little basket.
However, I think it looks a little silly with her hair in her braids, either in the loops or down, but with her hair completely down or pulled completely back, I think it's gorgeous. I also think it looks good on Josie and is comparable enough to her riding dress that I say it could be historically accurate for her. Smae goes for Kirsten. There are some little things in the style that, "remind" me of her other dresses, such as the gathering into the waste, that I'm willing to say its historically accurate.
So, in a nutshell, I would definitely get the dress while it's on sale. It's well worth it.
